Below are a few words that I thought you might need help with in understanding what they mean. They are listed in alphabetical order. I will be adding more words to my dictionary in the future.
Energy — The capacity to do work.
Fossil Fuels — Energy sources formed by the decay of plants, dinosaurs, and other animals over millions of years; coal, oil, and natural gas are fossil fuels.
Global Warming — The gradual warming of the earth due to the "greenhouse effect".
Greenhouse Effect — The trapping of the sun's radiant energy, so that it cannot be reradiated. In cars and buildings the radiant energy is trapped by glass: in the earth's atmosphere the radiant energy is trapped by gasses such as CFCs and carbon dioxide.
Solar Energy — Energy from the sun. The heat that builds up in your car when it is parked in the sun is an example of solar energy.
Solar Heating — Using the sun's energy to heat our homes and water.
Utility — A company or other organization that provides a public service, such as supplying electricity, natural gas, or water.
